How children love rewards
Those little treats that say well done
But are they everything they’re cracked up to be
Or are they just drugs that lose their fun?
For what happens when they stop
And they’re not then in the frame?
Do children still put in the effort
If the outcome’s not the same
If the prize just isn’t there
Is there really any point?
Or should they aim for intrinsic satisfaction
Where themselves they then appoint
To become the motivator
Who inspires and who instills
A relentless determination
To makes for happy wills
So that innately, they then foster,
An inherent intrinsic treat
Making the sense of accomplishment
A reward that’s most complete!
