The Pirouetting Buckingham Palace Guard

There’s a guard at the palace today
Who’s putting on quite a display
With a twist and a twirl
And a bit of a curl
He’s a comic now wouldn’t you say

He’s wearing his bearskin on head
And his jacket is shiny bright red
But his march from his post
Is the thing loved by most
With a pirouette so it is said

But now sadly he’s got into strife
For despite his good humour so rife
He must stand still and dumb
To not endorse nor succumb
To his Strictly Come Dancing dreamed life

So news has broken of a guard pirouetting at Buckingham Palace.  If you want to see the You Tube clip – click this link:

Bad Hair Day

Written in support of stars.org.uk new fundraising idea to post a picture of your #STARSbadhairday on Facebook or Twitter and text GINZ47 £3 or HAIR11 £3 to 70070 to donate to this worthy organisation.  And what’s more you don’t need hair to do so – just post a picture of yourself first thing in the morning and help raise awareness of the aims of this charity.

Crazy wild and frizzy frizz
Bad hair day – Lordy lord
Where brush and comb and cream to tame
Just cannot be ignored

Save else all kids will run away
And on the streets they’ll hide
And shut their curtains to prevent
The madness there outside

And warnings will alert – watch out!
Delirium in hair
Of untamed beast with fuzzy wig
On top of woman there!

And word will spread across the land
In Chinese whispers go
That hair that bad just ain’t so good
Like nest of mangy crow

For such a mane suggests much more
Unkempt and wild and free
A lion – a wilderbeast – a fright
And not just little me!

The Banter Wagon

There is a wagon rolling
On the way called “Jokers Road”
A carriage or a coach perhaps
Where humour can unload
A zany, playful, happy place
Where fun is all the biz
Tomfoolery and old hi-jinks
That buzz with kick and fizz

But careful if you board it
For you need to understand
That the banter wagon can upturn
Unless you can withstand
The raillery and funny gags
That lads and lasses band about
All in the name of craic, as
They chaff and shout it out!

Weekends

Ah the weekend’s round the corner
I feel it on the wind
I can sense it soon arriving
As the week will then rescind
Its clutches on our time and life
All pressured and harassed
To welcome in the weekend for
A break that’s unsurpassed

A time to spend with family
To down some wine or beer
To rest, relax and contemplate
With good times and much cheer
To unwind and put feet up
To socialise; party
To partake in our choice of things
Our loves and our hobby

A time to mow the garden lawn
Or wash the car and dog
To frequent gym and tennis courts
And maybe try leap frog
To shop and cook and maybe clean
Prepare for the next week
Whilst keeping kids all occupied
Without a tear or squeak

To decorate that back bedroom
To plant the borders up
To polish all the silverware
To fix that broken cup
And then when we’ve quite finished we’ll
Drop on Monday stressed
And need another break to then
Recover from our rest!
