The Mouth Speaks What The Heart Is Full Of
The mouth reflects the heart’s content
A mirror on the soul
The verbal flow of what’s within
Reciting rote recall
A vision of what lies beneath
The mask that each one wears
Betraying internal substance
So watch out and beware
Of those who smile yet utter forth
Profanities and hate
For where there is dis-synchrony
Such words are venom’s trait
Releasing from deep down inside
A vapour stream from hell
In swirls and pools of discontent
That does not bode so well
So only counter words that match
Content that’s good and true
And aim to honour real concord
In all you say and do
Cold Callers
Don’t get angry with cold callers
But instead put them on hold
With mute button depressed to see
How long they’ll stay so bold
And blabber forth their sales pitch
Into the open air
As then you don’t waste precious time
And show them you don’t care
For soon enough they’ll get it
And realise that in vain
They’ve pitched to the wrong person
And won’t bother you again!
Small Talk
Pretending to be busy
So not to have to chat
Avoiding small talk day on day
Less saying this and that
Yet gabble on the internet
Is what some people do
Save getting knickers in a twist
By passing words with you!
But please don’t take it personally
Cos in the manic rush
Of everyday life and mayhem
They just prefer the hush!
Telecommunications
Oh where did Buzby go
That little bird who flew
With voices cross telephone lines
All dressed in yellow hue
Who understood and helped
And served the public well
Assisting with a happy tweet
In a service that was swell
But now those days are gone
The bird’s been laid to rest
Instead replaced with robots and
Computers that all test
The patience of the saints
With call centres insane
That fail to comprehend; assist
And really are a pain!
So come back Buzby please
And fly our wires once more
With better public services
Than these we now implore!
And grab the gauntlet do
To try and sort the mess
With lines that operate and work
And customers less stressed!
Reading
The mirror past invisibility
To see what otherwise might not be seen
The way to the destination
To visit places otherwise out of reach
The connection through space
To meet those otherwise never to be met
The key to the past
The portal to the future
The acquisition of knowledge; of language
And the hand of communication
Edifying mankind by text
The World Wide Web
There’s the observers, the partakers
The stalkers and much more
All operating on the line
Of cyberspace for sure
The contributors, the posters
The ones who sit and read
All wrapped in social networking
A new sort that we breed
The bloggers and the web masters
The programmers; the rest
All living in the modern world
That shares a common nest
The nest or is that really web
World wide community
The question then remains to know
Which sort are you and me?
Blah Blah Blah
Dedicated, in the nicest possible way, to all those who make our lives hell 😉
That noise she makes
So blah blah blah
Incessant some would say
Just going on and on and on
And nagging everyday
Still reading out the same old lines
Preaching to deaf deaf ears
For no ones listening anymore
She’s bored us all to tears!
Nice
Why is it when we’re younger we
Have certain words drilled out?
Out of our minds, our lexicon
To never hear them shout
Some words that from our brain are banned
Or else they’ll be our vice
Such words that have done nothing wrong
Like, for example, nice!
I mean, whatever did that word
Just do to gravitate
All teachers on the planet to
Say “No! The word I hate!”
This word that sums up perfectly
When something is just fine!
Despite the fact that there might be
More synonyms refined
For simple “nice” has been bullied
Rejected some might say
But how else can we then just wish
Each one a real ‘nice’ day!
