The Humpback Whale

I rode a silver humpback whale
Across the open sea
With songs of pure delight that rang
Out loud with great beauty

With fluke that pushed us through the waves
Propelling with such might
Whilst breaching to the highest skies
And splash of sheer delight

My humpback whale swan on and on
From pole to midline sure
Accompanied with other kin
Who joined in on the tour

On migrant trip from north to south
With me set on his back
To see the warmer ocean tides
To feed; to keep on track

Such splendour and wonder inspired
Majestically he went
The humpback whale cross ocean’s grand
And me; a maid of Kent

And all the while he sang and sung
With moans, and howls and cries
Cross waters auditorium
Repeating his reprise

To herald all from far and wide
To see; behold his power
The silver humpback whale that swam
And sung for hour on hour

Time Flies!

What happened to this morning?
Where did it disappear?
Before you know the day will go?
And then the month – the year!
And after that the decade
As seasons drift on by
So watch out for the clock has wings
As time can really fly

Puddle Jumping

What is it we love about puddles
Those drops of pure watery bliss
That pool in our sight
For wet play and delight
To jump in and simply not miss

With galoshes and wellies and raincoats
In colours of yellow and red
We’ll jump in the puddles
Right up to our middles
And splash with contentment instead

Yes there’s something so great about puddles
Such fun on the back of the rain
With a splishsplosh and splash
We’re relish a dash
To jump in those puddles again

Stargazing

Do you ever stop and wonder
When looking to the sky
The years that have now been and gone
As starlight hits your eye

Heavenly bodies oh so luminous
Mind-blowing to observe
Philosophy transcending as
It hits our optic nerve!

So immense and everlasting
Expansive universe
Astonishing; astounding
For time to still traverse

Do you ever stop and wonder
When you look into the sky
Such mysteries unparalleled
The marvels way up high

Star trails and Star tails.

Gibberish

Jabber, gibber, twaddle, gabble
The name of gibberish
An infectious English parlez
Of language in a dish
Serving verbal utter nonsense
With bunkum blabber free
For gobbledygook and drivel
And fun linguistically
For whether esoteric or
Pretentious and quite vague
Our gibberish so garbled goes
Right down a twaddle plague

To My Children

To my children, Merry Christmas
For blessings to befall
With faithfulness that’s flowing
And goodness ever knowing
For peace to one and all

And may this special day bring
Joy in many forms
Happiness with thanksgiving
Gladness in lives your living
Blessed memories recall

For with a full and open heart
And caring kind embrace
Be content in feeling warm
To forbear the biggest storm
With hope in yuletide grace

So my Darlings know you’re cherished
And dressed in cloaks of love
To welcome in the Christmas morn
Behold the babe in manger born
From heaven high above

The Christmas Cake

Take a 100 grams of flour
And add a little more
Take some sugar from the cupboard
Add fruit and eggs all raw
Then stir it up together
With spoons of happiness
And add the last ingredients
For a cake that’s truly blessed

The special last ingredients
A dashing of pure love
With cups of hope and kindness bright
Lest wishes from above
Add joy and family spirit
Compassion and sweet care
And mix and blend it all as one
For the best of Christmas fayre

Then put it in the oven warm
To bake for a long time
To cook where sweet aromas waft
For something quite sublime
Then top with frosted icing
And decorate with cheer
To wish each a Merry Christmas
And a blessed Happy New Year

The Christmas Tree Fairy

*
They
called her
nice and early
To come and do her
best.  To come when all
the children slept with magic and
the rest.
They begged her
come and decorate, to
light up every tree.  To hang
on decorations – those baubles glittery.
They gave her gorgeous ornaments and tinsel by
the
reams and added in some chocolates to hang with string
from seams.  They begged her come quite quickly
to come with
festal cheer. To
come at once to do her
bit, at this special time of year.
They called her the Christmas Fairy.  The
one whom came with grace.  To deck the halls with
holly, and ivy o’er all the place.  To come and add her Christmas
charm, as festive as could be – and then the Christmas Fairy sat herself
on top of
this special

Christmas

Just stop and hear the jingle bell
See reindeer pulling sleigh
As magic fills the air tonight
With Santa on his way

And hear the distant angels’ choir
Proclaim a baby’s birth
That fills the air with wonderment
Good tidings here on earth

Stand still and listen quietly
To families gathering round
With laughter, fun and yuletide cheer
The joyful Christmas sound

And look up to the dark night sky
To see a star shine bright
That led us to a stable bare
And to the Christ-child’s light

Then hush a while and contemplate
What Christmas holds in store
Salvation’s grace in peacefulness
With love and hope and more

The Night-Train

As tiredness comes and bids me sleep
And eyelids start to close
The night-time train arrives at last
On tracks of sweet repose

Where calm and soft tranquillity
Attest to peacefulness
And off towards the land of dreams
I drift in quietness

From consciousness to slumber vale
Past stations gently creep
In sprinklings of a magic sand
And breaths so very deep

Past fields of dormant memories
To hills of nonchalance
In oceans waves of rock-a-bye
To deserts without glance

The night-train pushes on with grace
With still and serene guise
In placidity that comforts still
To morning and sunrise.
