Make your day about the do
And not about the don’t
Make your week about the will
And not about the won’t
Make your month about the yes
And not about the no
Make your life about the can

The Recipe For Achievement

With a dash of stickability
A pinch of true resolve
And dose of determination
A mind set will evolve
To grow the muscle daily
That perseveres and beats
Those things that test and challenge us
That seem the biggest feat

So mix them all together
Add a drop of hell-bent might
Stir in a spoon of ‘not give up’
Until the end’s in sight
So that despite the toughest ride
The work be worthwhile
Cos no-one promised easy
In life’s mix to cross the miles

Then bake it in the oven
At a heat that just seems best
Enough to cook and bake the beast
Yet not too much to test
It’s own endurance limits
For sometimes more is less
In getting equilibrium
To win without the stress!

And finally when done spot on
Remove and see just what
Has been effected; followed through
And know that with a lot
Of focussed dedication
This is what you have done
Be proud of your accomplishment
For you’ve achieved and won!

Beautiful Day

Where waves lap on the sea shore
In rhythm and rhyme with the moon
Tides of contentment spill into my being
Freshened by the sea air
Exalted by the ocean’s freedom
Lapping gently in harmony with life
And I think to myself
What a beautiful day

Spuds R U!

If a spud, a mere potato
Can become so many things
Like crisps, french fries and vodka
Then you too can spread your wings
And aspire to be the person
You dream of day by day
With a little inspiration
To go a long long way

So set your mind right to it
From wherever you may be
For think that from a field of mud
Potatoes found glory!
And thus from modest beginnings
With the will to change and grow
Be true to your potential and
Reap from the seeds you sow!

Never Give Up!

See the watery sun
Weak on the horizon
Struggling to awake
Battered by the storms
Diluted by the rains
Assaulted in her plight
To rise up against the night
And break through dawn’s fog

And yet always, without fail
Claiming victory each morning
As she climbs into the sky
Dismissing the darkness
To bring light on each new day

To never concede
To never give up

Unity

However much we segregate
How much we dare divide
However much we quarantine
Or set apart; aside
Solutions will not then appear
Like magic calm then reign
Or simply land right in our lap
By separations gain
For by the very fact alone
The world’s diversity
Is what will bring about true peace
And harness unity

There Is A Gap

There is a gap
Between expectation and reality
Where our dreams nestle in the ether of vision
Lie adjacent to belief
Caress tomorrow with that almost tangible faith

There is a gap
Where in sanguine prospect
The mind alludes with delicious anticipation
Nudging the soul’s desire
With aspirant longing and tantalising eagerness

There is a gap
And that gap is a space
A space that we call “hope”
Hope; the keystone in the arch
And the elixir of life

Anyone Out There?

In Hat Creek California
Down on a silent plain
Auricles are precisely set
To listen out again
For the WOW signal incoming
From elsewhere; from ET
But will they hear it; pick it up
Is there more than you and me?

For we have hope that we aren’t in
The universe alone
Sharing our galaxy with more
Than spinning on our own
Through space and time eternal
Throughout the Milky Way
As those in Hat Creek listen out
Incessantly each day
