A Vote That Counts
Labour are red
The Tories are blue
Vote however you like
For the fact that holds true
Is that tomorrow; next week
When the new PM’s in
It will still be the case
That you can still win
If you don’t blame the outcome
On a whole load of rot
But focus instead
On the skills that you’ve got
To focus, work hard
With resolve and with might
For the gold that you seek
Is intrinsic; out of sight
Being contained in each one of us
For better or bad
So dig deep and discover
With a heart that is glad
To not see the red, and neither the blue
But the spectrum inside you
And make that work for you
For politicians will come
And then they will go
And no matter how much
Each manifesto
Makes great promises to match
Your wishes and wills
Or tries to deliver
Through political frills
Labour will stay red
The Tories will stay blue
But the rainbow that gives most
Will be always in you
Optimism
Balderdash and bother
Expletives all the way
Some people drive you round this twist
Wreak havoc every day
But some are really genuine
And always wear a smile
Bringing the sunshine in life’s storm
Going the extra mile
So stretch and yawn; whatever
And seek these souls right out
For they’re the ones to hang out with
For certain; without doubt!
And try and be more like them
To look for good and see
The rainbow through the tempest gloom
With drops more joyfully!
Just A Thought …
Each day I am determined
To write a little ditty
A poem or some prose
That rhymes or … maybe doesnât
An etching from my soul
My heart or from my mind
That help me understand the world
And fathom out mankind
And from the blue the topics
Just pop into my head
Whether I am feeling great
Or even just half dead
And where they come from is
A mystery for sure
But every day I jot down thoughts
To perceive more and more
So if they touch your soul
Uplift you; make you glad
Then that’s my job accomplished
Though sometimes theyâll be sad
And make you think or ponder
Or maybe question too
Is this the world we live in?
Whatever can I do?
But then that’s not a problem
When we challenge our mindâs mode
For good and bad and ugly
Form this world that’s our abode
So equally I hope it helps
When writing from the heart
To prompt us all to celebrate
The good or play our part!
The Beat
Hey! Get down to the beat
When walking down the street
The beat that strikes out rhythm blues
As heart beat that hits headline news
With constancy repeat
And rock a rate thatâs true
But know right what suits you
The boom boom boom along your way
Through arteries and veins each day
That circulate O2
So know your pulse for sure
The knocking at heartâs door
The dub dub dub that you can hear
Or feel pulsating oh so clear
For heart health and much more
