Clickbait society
Where likes and shares and such
Are central to the mindsets
Of those who yearn so much
For approval from all others
Over knowing their true worth
Abandoning self reliance
Whilst failing to unearth
A hidden gem that lies within
With dopaminergic zest
Called intrinsic satisfaction
Of yourself who knows you best
Look into the night sky and see a million stars
And think that without darkness
Their light would not be ours
Their radiance would simply not
Shine out so very bright
Without the black nocturnally
All stars would lose their fight
And likewise our adversities
Our toils and troubles too
May overwhelm and sometimes feel
Like they are what’s in view
But with a little confidence
And effort on our part
Our own lamps sparkle brilliantly
With truth held in our heart
And then it’s us that radiate
That shine and glisten more
Than any hassle, pain or strife
For as we brighten sure
The darkness round these other things
Just dissipates and goes
So that the million stars still shine
With the love we bestow
And throughout all the heavens
Down here upon the Earth
The beauty of such radiance
Is given a new birth
To brighten up the darkness
To shine through every night
With joy, and love and comfort sure
In effervescent light

In life there are so many things
That stand right in our way
A million blocks that circumvent
Our dreams; our hopes delay
But with a will of fortitude
Of strength and true resolve
Let’s creatively determine
To not let them dissolve
Nor diffuse them in the ether
To vanish out of sight
But courageously take up cups
And mantles with full might
Let’s work out pathways through the mist
Dispelling clouds for sun
To shine; illuminate the way
So inspiration runs
And then we’ll live lives; dreams fulfilled
With difference to impart
That touch, caress and so uplift
The contents of our heart

There’s nothing like a deal breaker
Of life that throws curved balls
But somehow still past all of that
There’s wonder to recall
The magic and ability
To bend and flex despite
Those ups and downs, and ins and outs
When problems chafe and bite
Yet still with pliability
Complete with anchored shield
There’s something to amend our course
That also will still yield
A life that can collaborate
And work through muck and mire
However bad, however curved
Resilience transpires
So dodge and duck these obstacles
To see the whole game plan
And lower expectations
If things go down the pan
For in each life it just might be
That other ways unfold
That we won’t comprehend until
The curved ball’s in our hold!
