Rain

Rain reigning down on the world
As clouds burst forth their payload
In a million droplets
Like diamonds falling from the sky
Cascading in heaven’s waterfall
To saturate the earth

Life Blood

Great blood vessels once flowed throughout
And cut across the living world
In streams of full vivacity
Sustaining life ahead

Such rivers surged with heart and soul
Like arteries cross every land
Yet then as veins of human tears
They wept in waters red

And haematoma blocked the flow
As conflict stifled, killed and raped
What had we done?  What do we do?
Usurped the river’s bed

Their courses altered by great wars
Permeated by broken lives
No longer fluid crystal blue
But channels of the dead

Arterial brooks starved of life
Left bleeding cross the world so wide
But now let’s hear the war cries cease
For peace to flow and spread

Lament The World

Lament the world the rubbish piled so high
The sounds of war, the distant battle cry
The wealth in face of poverty nearby
The acid rain that falls down from the sky

Lament the world, the tears of those who mourn
The stress, the strife, the broken hearts forlorn
The dirty water streams so full of scorn
The death rate stealing those just newly born

Lament the world, who knows not what we’ve done
The progress yet still ruled by machine gun
The place called Earth where nobody has won
The web of devastation sadly spun

Water

A million tears spilt in a lake
A thousand shattered stars
A hundred broken hearts and souls
No dreams to keep in jars

No hope to hold in weakened hands
No peace from death’s dark clench
Nor safety ‘gainst the rotten tide
Just stagnant filthy stench

The stench of dirty water in
A river of disease
Infested microscopic bugs
No escape and no ease

Where water does not heal and mend
Instead contains the curse
To infiltrate, to kill, to maim
To go from bad to worse

Infected with the carcass of
A dead decaying beast
Polluted from industrial
Waste not last or least

Contaminated, so unclean
Just rotten to the core
The one thing that should be so clean
Now contains sewage raw

Where vile atomic cells await
Their victims to attack
And water; essence of each life
Has poison on its back

And children know not what they drink
What ills so very grim
Where water once the source of life
Consumes the small victim

A million tears spilt in a lake
A thousand shattered stars
A hundred broken hearts and souls
No dreams to keep in jars
