Extortion

There’s never any reason
To beat a little child
To smack them, whip them, hurt them
To leave them so defiled
By physical aggression
Or psychologically
To steal away their human right
To live a life that’s free
Of harm and exploitation
For each child has great worth
And each adult should protect them
Enhance their walk on earth
And pave a pathway forward
That’s full of love; that’s fair
That helps them prosper and grow up
To know somebody cares

If you treat him with contempt
Then that is what you’ll get
If you treat him with hated
Then he’ll learn and then beget
Ways that flow against the tide
That drown and then submerge
His will to walk a righteous way
That set him on the verge
Of courses that might navigate
Away from good to bad
That fill his heart with rocks and stones
And bitterness so sad
So treat him with compassion
With empathy and care
So he will mimic truth and good
And go right out from there
Imbued with truth and honour
Inspired integrally
With hope for better days ahead
A good trajectory
Soaking up the joy from learning
With a heart to contribute
Feeling the pat right on his back
And not the kick from boot
I had a dream where grass was green
Justice has a new face
A face that makes one cry
That stifles truth and honesty
And makes the children cry
That leaves them feeling empty
That starves them; leaves them cold
That takes the clothes right off their back
Deprives them not of gold
But of a faith in reason
That adults really care
For justice gives the answer it’s
A real cruel world out there
And that those who are in power
Allow dishonesty
By letting off the bad in life
To hurt them constantly
The current legal system in the UK is failing our children allowing perpetrators to slip through the net despite behaviours that add up to neglect and abuse. With the loss of legal aid, the government has left thousands without access to fair access in the court system and without the power to untangle the mesh of red tape and bureaucracy in the current system and the lexicon of legal speak, the said perpetrators are getting off scot free, walking away with smug contempt to continue their abusive and neglectful behaviours! This is evidently called reform! What a mess!

Disappointed was the best word
Upset too strong
Let down too weak
Just plain disappointed
Trust betrayed
Hope severed
Promises broken
Saddened maybe
Frustrated definitely
Disillusioned almost certainly
But disappointed just seemed to sum it up
Disappointed!
That word hung heavy
They simply didn’t deserve him
He neatened his tie
Sighed
Picked up his books
And left
Never to look back
There’s a bust up in the park
Two folk that can’t get on
He’s so cross with her
But she says he is wrong!
He’s all full of mouth
But she’s all fuming red
And gets her handbag swaying
To beat him round the head
And so the shouting goes
Just on and on and on
With much dispute between themselves
Why can’t they’ll get along
And sort out all their differences
Argue more privately
Without resorting to the booze
To act more humanely!
