Contentment

Should life be all about happiness
Achieving that bubble of emotion
That rides the high waves of excitement
Or more so about countered contentment
Bobbing about on the ripples
Negotiating the ups and downs
With calm and measured serenity
You tell me?

Outside the Box

When all is done and all is said
When sun sets and moon shines bright
Forgive those who have done much wrong
To sleep content tonight

For in life there will be those who
Want to get their own way
And make trouble or gossip lies
Create such disarray

Plus puppets who do as they’re bid
Have their strings pulled with just no thought
For what they say and what they do
Nor act kindly as they ought

For they will never find comfort
In being like they are
But you can find deep inner peace
“‘Neath galaxies of stars

By not rising to the bait they set
Nor breathing their toxic fumes
Remembering that wrong only
Deprives and all consumes

So instead forgive these folk who mess
With true joy and with goodness
And be thankful that you are based
In a place that is more blessed

And have sorrow that these people
Can’t appreciate and feel
What harmony is in their hearts
Keeping love and concord real

For this way lives outside the box
Where the only way to be
Is based in a forgiving creed
That will set you so free

Blue Butterfly

Fly sweet butterfly. Fly fly!
Away into the blue
Midst azure wisps amongst the clouds
The essence that is you
And flap your cerulean wings
Until you blend as one
With heavens mist high up above
Towards the setting sun

The Night-Train

As tiredness comes and bids me sleep
And eyelids start to close
The night-time train arrives at last
On tracks of sweet repose

Where calm and soft tranquillity
Attest to peacefulness
And off towards the land of dreams
I drift in quietness

From consciousness to slumber vale
Past stations gently creep
In sprinklings of a magic sand
And breaths so very deep

Past fields of dormant memories
To hills of nonchalance
In oceans waves of rock-a-bye
To deserts without glance

The night-train pushes on with grace
With still and serene guise
In placidity that comforts still
To morning and sunrise.

I Had A Dream

I had a dream about the world
The world all cloaked in fear
Ruled by this overwhelming force
Or so it would appear

But then came a brand new order
That took hold of all the fright
Caressing it with kindness
And bathing it in light

And with compassion’s touch
Doors and ceilings opened wide
To conquer all the bounds of fear
Washed over by the tide

And liberty and freedom
Were released to roam at will
Subduing guns of terror
Scaling up the highest hill

For bullets held no power now
Unable to do harm
As peace reigned in magnificence
Together with a calm

And although fear still existed
The feed was love and honesty
With openness and pureness
Wrapped up in tranquillity

And so fear’s self just vanished
Replaced by universal care
Shining with a luminescence
That was forever there

And in that very dream
The heartbeat of the world restored
Turning from the pulse of violence
To one of acceptance and accord.
