The Biscuit Barrel Battle

There’s a battle in the tin
It’s going down quite loud
With Bourbon shouting out a bit
Digestive feeling proud
And Custard Cream a ranting
Whilst Nice is holding back
Save Malted Milk being a cow
For Shortbread’s on his back!

But then along comes Gingernut
All hard and rather cold
Pushing his way throughout the tin
Cursing those wrapped in gold
And making fun of cookie
Who’s really lost the plot
As Cadbury’s fingers point and jeer
Rich Tea’s stolen his spot

Whilst Jammy Dodger’s on a run
To slip away quite quick
As Jaffa Cake is complaining
He feels a little sick
But ultimately Hobnob and
Wafer turn up and come
To see the mess that has been made
For now each biscuit’s crumbs!

Bacon Is Good For You (Or Is It?)

Bacon is good for you
Like sweets and candyfloss
And fizzy drinks and cold ice creams
Or steaks with creamy sauce

But that’s in moderation
For in bounty they will make
You feel all stodgy; much like goo
That fills in nommie cakes!

And so enjoy a chocolate bar
A glass of wine or beer
But spare some space for veg and fruit
For good health year on year

An Easter Message

When you wake up in the morning
And you feel a fresh new day
When you breathe in and remember
There is another way
When you think and dare to alter
The way you used to be
When you grapple with your mind’s thoughts
To use plasticity
When you push through and consider
That old means are no more
Then that’s the resurrection that
Ignites your inner core

For a pathway that’s well-trodden
That needs to deviate
And choices that one makes in life
To shift and relocate
Can be changed to make a difference
To push and surge on through
Moving boulders that reside within
And alter what you do
For rising to each challenge breaks
The mould in life and chain
For inside you, my friend, is where
You can be born again

Chocolate Cake

Have your cake and eat it up
No problem we all say
For chocolate cake is just the best
On each and every day
With cream oozing from centre and
Choccie dripping from the top
With sprinkles, buttons, flakes in droves
As well as chocolate drops
And rich rich velvet nominess
Confection of delight
Will not last long on plate or fork
Unless right out of sight

Cupid’s Chocolates

Cupid’s chocolates, roses red
Petals scattered and outspread
Hearts abound, love in the air
Romance here and everywhere
Flowers and sweets much more beside
Valentine’s hearts burst with pride
Love the blessing above all
Free and unconditional

The Chocolate Box

A chocolate box of many sorts
So full of sweet surprise
With varied contents deep within
Confectionary’s prize
A strawberry cream of pure delight
So soft, delectable
And hazelnut that nestles up
Aside a caramel

Yet no-one asks how can it be
These chocolates co-exist
And sit in box with no ado
No spite from egotist
They do not seek to fathom out
How nut sits next to cream
And know that it would harm them all
To sit by fire or steam

So why in life do many chose
To not see it how it is
The chocolate box of humanness
Without getting in a tiz
Instead they purely focus
On the need for all to be
Compliant; all the very same
With no diversity!

And if a person dares to stand
Out from the nearby crowd
They’ll remonstrate and bully him
And shout at him out loud
They’ll want to know what right he has
To not be on their team
And put him right in the hot seat to
‘Explain’ nut next to cream.
