What do you see when you look in the sky?
What shapes do you see when you gaze on up high?
What images run amok in your head
As your mind’s eye takes control to lead – not be led
What beasts rear their heads? What creatures appear?
What visions unfold as you stare and you peer?
For do your see this or do you see that?
An elephant, penguin or even a cat?
A car on heaven’s highway; a train or a fleet
Of circus trucks in the ether; even a cold ice cream treat
Or a smile or some glimmer of a face to behold?
What forms kiss your eyes as clouds roll and unfold?
Or is this a trick of the mind saying ‘boo’!
As skies overhead fly on by over you
Conjuring up mental images, ambiguous stimuli
With subcortical might that identifies
Pareidolia; illusions; tripped senses in thin air
Making something from nothing that’s simply not there

Shadows from the clouds
Dancing ahead the hill top
Chase the hidden sun
Iodine line beneath red streak in sky
Time to rest heads and on pillows then lie
To breathe in the last air that spills from the blue
To slumber in darkness that’s covering you
For away to the west the ruby verge creeps
As the world in the east is now sound asleep
Where heavens waver constantly
Up in the sky so blue
Expanding cross the universe
With conscious insights new
Where clouds roll out as whispers and
Spool freely too and fro
Their cotton buds of pure white tints
And murmurs as they go
Where sun burns down so brightly
With heat; sunshiny ray
Eluding hope and happiness
Blue skies stretch out today
Just one of those glorious early summer days in Sydney… (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Oh clouds so full of majesty
You sail across the sky
With vibrant gowns and velvet robes
That really can’t deny
Your gleaming royal supremacy
As evening heralds in
Clouds mystic and so wonderful
So bright above to win
Upon the sea that billows
In swathes of vapours high
Oh clouds drift atmospherically
In cloaks to please the eye
