Liberty

Liberty – human privilege
Protection of all men
Of women, children; sacrosanct
Freedom to hold the reign
Of life, the way you chose to go
The path that you might tread
Without suppression in the way
Stopping oppression dead
To have and hold autonomy
With independence true
Not confined or restricted by
Red tape and others too
To stand for all equality
Discrimination fall
To advocate a fairer way
That safeguards one and all
To be self-regulating and
To honour human rights
For choice, justice and liberty
The heart of freedom fights

Forgiveness

There is only one way to go
One road to just traverse
One path to freedom, liberty
Away from pain and curse

Not backward but ahead intent
Without revenge or hate
One channel that can so empower,
With contentment create

A life restored emotionally
With positivity and peace
A life that moves us onwards where
All bitterness might cease

Where reigns of bullies fail to hold
Oppressive clasp depletes
Where venom and despite then fades
Their power then obsolete

Where those who don’t apologize
Who fail to see their wrong
No longer matter; run the race
Of life that takes us on

For through the power of forgiveness
We walk a freer way
With liberation; empowerment
Towards a brighter day

Forgiveness

Grudges

Grudges are a waste of
Perfect happiness
Destroying chances of
Feeling truly blessed
Constricting open hearts
Clogging up our minds
Get rid of them today
Put it all behind

Be a freer soul and a
Happy one to boot
For grudges are time wasters
Think – who gives a hoot!
And let go of your grudges
Don’t hold them really tight
But kick out all resentments
And put them out of sight

And A Partridge In A Pear Tree: Part XII Twelve Drummers Drumming

Today we reach the culmination of the Twelve Days of Christmas with the arrival of the twelve drummers drumming.  It’s been a crazy few days but we hope you’ve enjoyed meeting Partridge, his merry party and the little hidden moral that negativity can sometimes freeze us to the spot and inhibit full enjoyment of life, whereby an open heart will help move us on in life to open opportunities gateway!  The full poem is available here

But safe to say, all is not lost
As one by one returns
The turtle doves and three French Hens
And calling birds in turns

Arrive with swans and geese and maids
Together with the rest
To party with the Partridge now
With fun that is so blessed

And in their turn the drummers come
A drumming on their way
To wish all there a great new year
With greetings every day

Free!

Shackled by society
Enchained within the mind
Bound to expectations
With eye on back behind

Enslaved by thoughts and bias
Held back by prejudice
Constrained by ego’s damning
Confined by selfishness

Imprisoned: where’s the justice?
Judgement’s hostility
Throw off the chains that bind you
And stand up for liberty

Liberty – oh freedom’s legacy
Altruism’s sovereignty
Step up autonomous in truth
Live lives that sets you free

Destiny

If you play the same old record
Then you’ll hear the same old song
If you still act out the same script
The same lines will still be wrong

If you hate your own reflection
Change the person who you see
If you’re unhappy with your life
Then transform who you will be

If you dislike the path you’re roaming
Then switch to a different way
If you don’t like the way your life is
Then be brave and change today

And know that for the most part
You make your own sweet harmony
So tweak your life; pick up the reigns
And drive your own destiny

Turn About

Give up the fags, the sweets and the booze
Give up the caffeine and buying more shoes
Give up the burgers and other fast food
Give up the moaning and being so rude
Give up the nose picking or chewing on hair
Give up the tendency to lean on your chair
Give up the life that never moves or works out
Give up these things and start turning about

About to a life where you are in charge
About to a life that is free and at large
About to a life where you’re the boss of your ways
About to a life that takes control of your days
About to a life that says “I love me, I do”
About to a life that says “That choice is mine too”
About to a life that’s not constricted by guilt
About to a life that is lived to the hilt!

What is Bravery?

Is it the bold, audacious act?
Or the quiet courageous deed
Is it the daring feat of heroism?
Or the valiant faithful lead
Is it triumph over fear?
Or the will to dare to dare?
Is it the facing up and doing it
Despite all other threats out there
Is it in suffering for beliefs?
Or endurance for a cause
Is gallantry only for the brave?
Who are worthy of applause?
Bravery; defined by such resilience
That endures for liberty
A fight that votes for freedom
A conquest that sets us free.

Emotions

There’s the nice or there’s the nasty
There’s the good or there’s the bad
There’s the fun or there’s the serious
There’s those who are happy or who are sad

There’s the content or there’s the angry
There’s the pleasant or unkind
There’s the elated or the grieving
There are those with hope or fearful mind

There’s the surprised and the indifferent
There’s the proud or the ashamed
There’s generous or the greedy
There are those known and those unnamed

There’s the relieved and the frustrated
There’s those that restrict or give liberty
Lives of contrasting emotions
But which today will set us free?

Truth and Responsibility

There’s a culture of blame apparent
That’s swept across the land
Paralysing the sense of freedom
Taking truth hostage in its stand

There’s a move towards complacency
That’s asphyxiating hearts
An inability to apologize
Segregating into parts

There’s a harbouring of hatred
Suffocating liberty
Depriving love and laughter
Detaining in captivity

There’s an ethos of rash judgement
That fails to understand
Neglecting to appreciate
Different perceptions hand in hand

There’s a path of destruction
That stifles global breath
Draining empathy and compassion
Leaving a trail of death

There’s a choice to be made?
A subscription to integrity
Upholding honour daily
With truth and responsibility
