If There Was A God (Haiku)
If there was a god
This would be him in glory
Shining light on earth
In the deep pools of the soul
I am who I am
Inner consciousness
Transcending from the now until the then
Where purity swells in rivers of immanence
Immutable love flowing in a stream
And a still intrinsic voice whispering
In unfathomable oceans of graciousness,
Providence and humility
Across seas of perfection, truth, and love
Infinite incomprehensiveness
Past wrath and peace
The alpha and the omega
The beginning and the end
For if I am then in such essence am I
Temptation is addictive
Draws you in enticingly
The carrot less the stick at play
Where will might fail to be
Resolving to be better
To not succumb; be strong
Less the allure; the gathering
The coax but things go wrong
And then it comes a-hankering
Appeal; forbidden bait
Temptation; irresistible
You can’t! You just can’t wait!
When will he hear his conscience?
The little thing that speaks
To keep him on a straighter path
And his behaviour tweak?
The guide that hides deep in him
That whispers through the years
That tells him what is right and wrong
When will he stop and hear?
And listen once again to it
This voice that lies within
To really, stop, appreciate
His conscience through the din
When will he pay attention to
All that it has to say
To cease his hell bent lifestyle
And open up one day
To reckon with this narrative
That guides and aids his heart
To cherish what is good in life
Before he falls apart
His conscience; his persuader
The plumb line on his soul
When will he stop and notice
And once again be whole?
I know, I hear, I copy that
All that you think and do
A life transparent, readable
One that I can see through
No secrets can you ever hide
For underneath your skin
I look, I search, I scrutinize
For you lose and I win!
And when you want to understand
Just what you’ve not well hid
Remember this for your deceit
Is what lifts off the lid
For sure your sin will find you out
Reveal just who you be
The lies, the wrongs, the nastiness
No! There’s no flies on me!
A small bright shining candle
All glowing in this world
A ray of hope and happiness
An incandescent pearl
A beam of joy and harmony
A shaft so radiant white
A stream of Godly wonder
A life of love and light

Such a grey day outside
Storm clouds billowing across the skies
In ominous swathes of judgement
Inauspiciously gathering with apocalyptic fervour
Summoning the torrential deluge
The tumultuous tempest
The foreboding squall
The cascade from the heavens
To silence the birdsong
With her hand of menacing sodden doom
If you want to grow some wisdom
There’s a seed in you and me
That develops through the seasons
Much like the old oak tree
Sagacious in its branches yet
Starting so very small
A seed that doesn’t shout and rant
But reaches out to all
Not cynical; not assuming
The buds of wiser ways
That blooms pure and simple kindness
For more insightful ways
For kindness is the birthplace that
Manoeuvres out of care
That removes all other blinkers
For truer truth out there
That consciously attunes and sees
The other’s points and views
With comfort and encouragement
For wisdom to infuse
Where power becomes more balanced to
Uplift humanity
In the spotlight of wisdom’s nest
Right in the old oak tree
