Black Friday
Day of gluttony
Of greed and mass excess
Of crowds; of lost souls; stupidity
And silly covetousness
Forgetting that they just don’t need
This stuff they stop to buy
Where hearts are trampled on to boost
Profits in shops sky high
And whilst the smug economy
Rubs hands with greedy might
Those fools who’ve spent what they don’t have
Will not sleep well tonight
Gold may line your pockets
But our hearts are lined with love
And that, my friend, is better
Than anything you have
For despite your wealth and affluence
There’s one thing, that’s for sure
That love will conquer everything
And without it you are poor!
The face of greed amidst the mangrove swamp
Beholding the temptress; her charm irrefutable
On saline tide drawing him to her breast
Unrequited; alluring; enticing
Bathing in the riches of Persian pearls
The oils of eastern charm
And yet she is nothing but a transitory illusion
Draining his Bedouin pools of life
With tar bleeding his heart
And gold no longer residing in his soul
As she conceives her triumph, he is lost
