Opinions 😉

If we assimilate opinion
From sources of similarity
Then opinions will be influenced
By the views these sources see.
But if we broaden our horizons
Or acknowledge our own dearth,
Then new perspectives on our opinions
Will subsequently be unearthed
And as such these new opinions
Whether they shift or stay the same,
May then recognise the bias
That exists in what we claim.
For a forged opinion may come out of
What we know or think we know.
But these notions in all fairness
May be flawed or need to grow!
And thus whilst knowledge, by definition,
Maybe true, it may be wise
To recognise that opinion’s truth values
Come in more than just one size.

Harmony

There’s a bridge that extends

Between you and me

Invisible yet there

Cross chasm and sea

Called respect, open mindedness

Less judgement and blame

That seeks out common pathways

That chooses the game

That pulls together; uplifts

That doesn’t divide

Works hard to discover

That despite different sides

We are of the same coin

Be me head and you tails

And that’s where the wealth is

On a sliding scale

T’ween my opinion and yours

However different they be

For when all’s said and done

Let’s sing in harmony

Perception

I sit and look and look and see
The variance in reality
And think to myself how very strange
That each one can just rearrange
The words writ on the self same page 
With different outcomes cross the age
All coming from the self same core
Yet changing somewhat to ensure
That what I see with my own eyes
May to your view remain disguised
Yet that’s just what perception holds
For what you call rubbish, I may call gold

The Subjective View

The subjective view
Is is right? Is it true?
Or a ruse to convince you and me
As perspective contorts
And is all out of sorts
Whilst losing objectivity

Philosophy of Tolerance

There’s a practice amongst humans
Where opinions are a vent
To understand the raison d’être
The purpose; no relent
To box in categories how
Just each conjecture lies
To label them philosophy
Postulate and theorise

Then each of these is made into
A system of beliefs
A way; a vision; attitude
That aims to give relief
To human constant questioning
Of what has gone before
Or what will happen in the next
What’s through life’s tight sealed door

But still the bottom line is this
That whilst we might believe
In select ideas and outlooks
That we choose to conceive
All have a perfect credence
When they are bought into
For minds aid understanding
When hearts have buy in too

And so why some fight; go to war
Dictating what is right
Just seems to block perspective
And fails to have insight
For there’s a patchwork blanket
That spreads across the Earth
Humanity’s opinions
The bedrock that gives worth

The values each subscribe to and
The ways they want to be
Opinions, sentiments and thoughts
To comprise philosophy
So in essence it might be the case
That there’s more than one way
If we all chose to synchronize
With tolerance each day
