Opinions 😉

If we assimilate opinion
From sources of similarity
Then opinions will be influenced
By the views these sources see.
But if we broaden our horizons
Or acknowledge our own dearth,
Then new perspectives on our opinions
Will subsequently be unearthed
And as such these new opinions
Whether they shift or stay the same,
May then recognise the bias
That exists in what we claim.
For a forged opinion may come out of
What we know or think we know.
But these notions in all fairness
May be flawed or need to grow!
And thus whilst knowledge, by definition,
Maybe true, it may be wise
To recognise that opinion’s truth values
Come in more than just one size.

I am Right and You are Wrong!

Do you ever wonder why, in a world that offers so many opportunities to understand from all the sources of information available, that the will to tolerate and understand seem to be at an all time low?

Where are our listening hearts?

A Child’s View

Give me a child’s view any day
Simplicity at best
Idealism untainted
Pureness that stands the test

And tell me where it will not go
What truths it will not yield
For children do not blow us up
Deprive the living fields

Children do not just suffocate
The riches that we see
Or zap the goodness of the world
Constrain autonomy

They don’t dictate autocratically
They don’t control, contrive
Nor stifle, choke, asphyxiate
But try to stay alive

No!  A child’s view is quite priceless
A gift just for the Earth
A treasure that innocently
Has power beyond their birth

Last Minute Christmas

Last minute Christmas
Oh what a to do
The shops are just crazy
The traffic is too
The queues are horrendous
The congestion a mess
Why leave it so late
And get in a stress?

But that’s how it happens
Every year without fail
You plan oh so calmly
To shop, cook to entail
That peace and serenity
Sees the preps done timely
But does it happen that way
Don’t be daft – not to me!

So last minute Christmas
All done in a rush
And wrapped in the small hours
When the house is all hush
And the cake and the pudding
Cooked on the last day
But dowsed in much brandy
To take all cares away!

It’s Christmas!

It’s Christmas!  “Yay” I hear you cry
Glad tidings and good cheer
The time for fun and silly games
To celebrate this year
The time to decorate the house
To eat and drink too much
The time to give out presents
To relax with spouse and clutch
The time to see the family
To visit Aunty Sue
And time to wear those silly hats
That come in crackers too
The time to go to church again
To celebrate a birth
Of the Messiah in the barn
With angels over earth

It’s Christmas! “Yay” I hear you cry
Glad tidings and good cheer
But after it, when all is done
You’ll countdown to New Year
For be it too much turkey or
A drop of too much gin
Or relatives that drive you mad
You’ll be bored of staying in
You’ll want your life to then return
To what it was before
For normality to get a grip
For life to start once more
So cherish now the build up to
The Christmas Holiday
And enjoy the thought that it’ll be
Perfect in every way!

Christmas

Just stop and hear the jingle bell
See reindeer pulling sleigh
As magic fills the air tonight
With Santa on his way

And hear the distant angels’ choir
Proclaim a baby’s birth
That fills the air with wonderment
Good tidings here on earth

Stand still and listen quietly
To families gathering round
With laughter, fun and yuletide cheer
The joyful Christmas sound

And look up to the dark night sky
To see a star shine bright
That led us to a stable bare
And to the Christ-child’s light

Then hush a while and contemplate
What Christmas holds in store
Salvation’s grace in peacefulness
With love and hope and more
