Just Sit And Be …

Let us stand and let’s defeat them
Let their terror never win
Let their thoughts be ever vanquished
Let only love creep in
Let our minds be fully focused
On a world in harmony
Filled with joy, kindness, compassion
Where hope burns eternally
Let us represent all goodness
Let us break the code of hate
Let us unite through diversity
A new world then create
Where London Bridge is burning
With a thousand candles shining bright
Dispelling darkness from our streets always
Each and every day and night
I close my eyes and go to sleep
Content or so it seems
Able to drift into a world
Of slumberific dreams
Where fairies dwell and good folk live
In perfect harmony
So odds with what this world gives out
Or is this only me
Who find the folk who bicker and
Who argue and who moan
A tiresome bunch with so much hate
Making all others groan?
And so on the train to sleep-so-tight
I yawn and shut my eyes
And leave this world to find a place
Where goodness never dies
Where people seem to get along
Where kindness is what’s found
Where truth and love and joy survive
And happiness abounds
So when the sun comes up again
Birds chorus with delight
I feel refreshed and feel renewed
From such a peaceful night
When all is done and all is said
When sun sets and moon shines bright
Forgive those who have done much wrong
To sleep content tonight
For in life there will be those who
Want to get their own way
And make trouble or gossip lies
Create such disarray
Plus puppets who do as they’re bid
Have their strings pulled with just no thought
For what they say and what they do
Nor act kindly as they ought
For they will never find comfort
In being like they are
But you can find deep inner peace
“‘Neath galaxies of stars
By not rising to the bait they set
Nor breathing their toxic fumes
Remembering that wrong only
Deprives and all consumes
So instead forgive these folk who mess
With true joy and with goodness
And be thankful that you are based
In a place that is more blessed
And have sorrow that these people
Can’t appreciate and feel
What harmony is in their hearts
Keeping love and concord real
For this way lives outside the box
Where the only way to be
Is based in a forgiving creed
That will set you so free
Chose kindness daily
To bring joy to each one’s heart
And peace to each soul

When dark clouds gather, ghouls and ghosts
Liars and haters claw
Remember this, look to the light
To keep each heart so pure
For there let peace reside within
Resting each weary mind
Holding onto kindness and truth
With gratitude unwind
And seek a path of hope forward
Be intent on love’s own way
Forbearing, goodness, patience, faith
And joy day on each day
Then tether to benignity
Where fruits of sanctity
Will liberate from oppression
As grace thus sets each free
If I built the world
I’d think for a bit
Of the things that are needed
What would make it a hit
I’d ask myself questions
I’d try not to lie
And consider what improves
Our lives til we die
And asides all the stuff
Like water and fresh air
Green parks, rural spaces
And plentiful fayre
A little shelter, a fire
And a system to ease
The chances of illness
And heinous disease
I think at the top of my list
There would be
A couple of people
Call them Adam and Eve
With a system in place
That would help then evolve
A family, a race,
And a means to then solve
Life’s little conundrums
The good and the bad
A means to endeavour
Happiness over sad
And in time I would hope
That whatever they made
Would enhance what I’ve given
In the blueprint conveyed
For that would be perfect
A chance to imbue
The diversity possible
With equality too
But would I give them free will
Would I give them a brain
Well do you consider
I’d make that error again?
For it seems that these tools
That should make things so good
Can be turned on themselves
And do not as they should
Make ridiculous choices
For who would dare think
That with all that’s been given
The best thing to drink
Is the poison of plunder
The extracts of war
Consuming all evil
So that more and more
So many lives are corrupted
Ruined, wrecked and destroyed
By the things human do
And the games they employ
So if I built the world
I’d think for a bit
What makes love, hope and joy
For that’s the best bit
And the rest I would fix
In their heads and their mind
So this revised edition
Would be much more kind
