Perfectly imperfect
Is just the way to be
Despite the pressures every day
To be so perfectly
Flawless and faultless
So spot on
Against the human grain
That says “to err is human” so
Why do we even feign
To be perfection’s partner
To have, to look, to do
Excellence when that’s just a myth
That leaves us in a stew
For really striving at our best is
What it’s all about
And that’s the focus I would say
Is perfect to shout out!
Each morning when she gets up
She photoshops her face
With layers of paste and plaster in
The hope that by the grace
Of God or maybe make up
Her mask will fox them all
To think that she is so perfect
Just like a Barbie doll
And with her paint and lipstick
She moves into the day
Praying no tears will tumble down
And wash it all away
Nor any other happening
For then, she fears we’ll see
Her face naked and all exposed
Which she says is ugly
Yet less all her mascara
Eye liner and much more
There’s fairness in her face deeper
Than her made over flaws
For cosmetics cover nothing
Are really no disguise
As beauty hidden underneath
Is best in any eyes
I see the rose
Neatly folded swathes of petals
Cocooning a central core
Wrapping delicately
To release a visual splendour
I see the new born baby
Always a miracle
In innocence and sweetness
Soft and gentle
Beauty in its purest form
I see the starlit sky
A million wishes to be made
Sparkling vestibules of light
Skating across the galaxy
Against the azure haze
I see the spec of sand
Amidst the beach
White grains of freedom
As nature’s gate
To the ocean’s wide
I see all these
Visions of excellence
Images of brilliance in awe and wonder
Complete and unflawed
Revealing nature’s perfection
