Life’s Rollercoasters

Blue Mind

Blue mind
Immersed in the moment
As waves crash onto the shore
Or roll in the deep
Navigating destiny
And anchoring the past with the present
In maritime bliss

Life’s Rollercoaster

Life is but a roller coaster
On the waves of experience
Rolling in on the crests
Being submerged in the troughs
Where the highs and the lows
Ebb and flow rhythmically
Yet where tidal propagation
Hangs on our topographic maps
Shaping the here and now
The then and there
All in the name of autonomy

Waves

Looking at the ocean and seeing waves
Water from heaven
Droplets from the earth
Merged in the blue to beyond
Life and death in a cycle
Turning with the moon
In tides that never end

Stone Heart

I found a heart down on the beach
A heart all made of stone
All hard and tossed by larger waves
And now sat all alone

With granite core all beaten down
Eroded constantly
By vagaries of weather and
The tears of nearby sea

And now that heart sits on my desk
An aide-mémoire revealed
That we must handle hearts with care
Let kindness be our yield

To save the hearts of others who
Might be tossed to and fro
And be a shining light in life
To help each heart just glow

Seascape

Behold the sea, the ocean blue
Of maritime green and turquoise hue
Marine expanse and mighty waves
Where boats have sailed and sailors graves
Where breakers crash against the cliff
Lest dare those go in fishing skiff
Home of the porpoise and great whale
Of dolphin and white shark’s wet trail
Where seagulls plane and puffin soar
And oyster-catcher goes before
Or near the beach where shallows still
Lap over seaweed beds and squill
Where mussels cling to bare laid rocks
Awaiting ocean’s tidal stocks
Behold the sea, the ocean blue
Aquatic realm; forever new

Lunar Tides

The moon shines bright across the bay
Infusing light; enough to spy
The depths of shadows on the waves
Against the blackened azure sky

And dropping on the waves that break
Upon the shoreline constantly
A glistening spark from starlight bright
To twinkle there out on the sea

Amidst the dunes of windswept sand
The rustle of the dried out grass
The lunar creatures come to dance
And wait for night to turn and pass

And still the tides lap silently
Upon the beach in wait for day
As currents wax and wane in time
With moon that shines across the bay

Stuck At Sea

Out on the channel once t’was bad
With gusts and gales so strong
That on a ferry we got stuck
For ten or twelve hours long

To taxi up and down the coast
From Calais to Dieppe
The waves were high as high can be
And decks just so wind swept

With rain that lashed and battered
And lightning that was bad
And thunder that just pounded
To make the children sad

For all the ports were closed to ships
And none could stop and dock
So left to rock on the rough sea
We saw it round the clock!

The Sea Spirit

She left and went down to the beach
The sea lapping on shore so clear
The tide drawing in from far and near
With sun now dipping out of reach

Along the bay right by the sea
With sand between her toes she trod
With wind embracing every nod
She wandered far so aimlessly

Embracing fears, enticing thoughts
Her busy mind, her ramblings wild
Absorbed in self, her inner child
Lost to a world so overwrought

The moon arose high in the sky
The stars danced brightly all around
Darkness encased her world and ground
She breathed her last and said goodbye

And to this day so it is said
That girl still walks right by the sea
Along the shore eternally
Now misted into time instead
