A fettered self beholden to
The whims of others folk
Will render fulfilment debunked
Empty and rather broke

For living for extrinsic might
To be ‘in’ at all cost
Will cast one out of their own self
And leave them feeling lost

For though gregarious to all
The outside world they seem
Inside they’re shrivelled, lonely hearts
Hurt, craving more esteem

And so my prayer for these dear folk
Is one where they will see
Their true worth based in who they are
Less who they try to be

For deep within, a rainbow’s end
Lies hidden out of sight
Where the elixir they crave
Rests quietly day and night

Let faith resonate
From within to enable
Belief in oneself

Spuds R U!

If a spud, a mere potato
Can become so many things
Like crisps, french fries and vodka
Then you too can spread your wings
And aspire to be the person
You dream of day by day
With a little inspiration
To go a long long way

So set your mind right to it
From wherever you may be
For think that from a field of mud
Potatoes found glory!
And thus from modest beginnings
With the will to change and grow
Be true to your potential and
Reap from the seeds you sow!

Spit, Grit And Duct Tape

Spit, grit and duct tape
The way things ought to be
Making the most of everything
All opportunity
To turn around and to make good
Recycle and restore
To put new life into the old
And openly explore
The endless possibilities
To use the gifts we’ve got
To make the most of what we have
And tie a little knot
Remembering that with hard work
A lot will be achieved
By focussing with purposed might
So go on! Just believe!
That you’ve already got the tools
You need! The kit for sure
To fix up, handle, manage and
Then open chosen doors!

Be Who You Will Be

When standing on the mountain top
Observe the stunning view
Imbue the scene that jumps for joy
And hops around in you

The sense that you’re invincible
The outlook that inspires
The sentiment that all is great
That blossoms like wild fires

The feeling that spreads right throughout
The mind so rampantly
Behold the vista and just know
That power so pleasingly

For all the world’s your oyster that
Enables you for free
To take the gauntlet and achieve
And be who you will be

Your worth is immense
For you’re the cat’s cream

Believe in yourself
Give you due respect
Honour your value
With pride not neglect

Believe in yourself
Content being you
Smile that you’re worthy
Yes – know that it’s true!

 

Don’t Give Up!

If you’ve been so very lucky
To get the results you wanted to
Then take a bow and then move on
To your chosen pastures new

But if you’ve not got what you hoped for
Then don’t give up or despair
Because there’s more success in failure
When you carry on from there

For to realize true potential
Sometimes takes a few attempts
So go on forth with focus new,
And perseverance not exempt

For with determination fostered
With motivation new
And a little bit of self-belief
There’s much more for you to do

And who’s to say that it won’t be
Better than that you had hoped for
Because life is full of opportunity
That unlocks and opens doors

So dust yourself off and regather
And get on your za za zing
Then step out proudly in the knowledge
That you’re quite simply amazing!

For the skill in life isn’t always
To walk on down an easy way
But to navigate these obstacles
Enjoying each and every day!
