Cupcakes and Lemonade

Cupcakes and lemonade
Picnics away
Chilling to celebrate
Come on today
To shine like a star
With sweetness galore
With fresh lemonade
Come on – we implore!

And feel sun in your hair
And grass in your toes
Whilst making a diff’rence
Cos everyone knows
That cupcakes and lemonade
Forever will be
The best of best partners
For a fundraising tea!

This summer are asking us to hold Cupcake and Lemonade parties to fundraise for them so that they continue to be here for patients with unexplained blackouts, to answer their questions, talk to schools and provide reassurance when you need it.  To find out more click here.  This charity provides an invaluable service to those, who like me, suffer from conditions that knock us out regularly and particularly for those who struggle to get a diagnosis for rarer conditions.  Why not consider supporting them and organising your own Cupcakes and Lemonade picnic or party.  You can process the funds raised through the donations link on this blog which goes directly to them.  Let me know what you do? 🙂

The essence of my heart
True dreams, beliefs and more
The past, the now and future paths`
Expressions open door

Words paving through the banks of time
Emotions rolling tide
The tempest finding harmony
For calmness to reside

The soul dancing on open page
The eyes all gleaming bright
And harbinger of sentiment
Sensations perfect sight

Evoking feelings’ passion
Imagination’s fire
Aesthetic voice that weaves as one
Notions that might inspire

Extending past the stanza to
Paint pictures; imagery
Drawing in letters, rhymes and verse
A little bit of me

The Heart Rhythms Charity

If you’re feeling symptomatic
If you’re young or if you’re old
Or if you’re feeling fine
Just do as you are told
And get to know your pulse
To feel a constant beat
Lest if it’s bounding out of time
Don’t say it is the heat

But go and get it looked at
Check in with your GP
To see what is occurring
Let them be referee
To see which beats are dandy
Or which have gone astray
So take your pulse and make a note
For good heart health today!

And then we’ll all be happy
Celebrating more lives saved
Ensuring better care for those
Whose pulses don’t behave
Increasing improved access
For those arrhythmically
With help and with support from the
Heart Rhythms Charity

This week has been Heart Rhythm Week celebrating Ten Years of Innovation and Advancements in Arrhythmia Patient Care. To mark this Ginz&Tonic have been posting poems everyday to encourage everyone to “know their pulse” . Your support over the week and beyond will make a difference in helping to protect the many millions of arrhythmia patients worldwide.  Together we can:

  • Work to save 100,000 lives from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA)
  • Improve outcomes for 1 million AF patients
  • Increase early detection and management for 2 million arrhythmia sufferers

Know Your Pulse

A Star

A Star

A star is born
A star is here
A star is in the sky
A star shines out above the rest
And twinkles way up high

A star gives hope
A star gives cheer
A star that leads to peace
A Star of love.  A Star of joy
To shine and never cease.

A star to hold
To give to have
To wish upon each day
A star that lights the path ahead
Illuminates the way

A star that is
A leading light
A star that burns so bright
With radiance and faithfulness
Enlightening the night

A star that paves
Celestial ways
With angel choirs today
And with the Christmas anthem sings
Glad tidings on this day
