I wrote a story to help adults explore the current pandemic with their young children. It includes helpful guidance to help those conversations flow a little easier.
It is illustrated by a lovely friend of mine, Debbie Joy Brookes, who worked remotely and at speed to get this out there. We hope you find it helpful at a time when there’s a lot of worry in the air yet at a time when we need to help children process this so that their own trauma is mitigated as much as possible
The hand of comfort touching hearts
With concern and care
On the wing of understanding
Rejecting judgement and despair
Without assumption or bias
Universal altruism pure
Embracing selflessness in union
With love and mercy whole, secure
Innate within the senses
Giving succour and sympathy
Paving life paths of fulfilment
Of health and kindness warm
Compassion is happiness
In its highest form.
Ginz and Tonic started life as a year long challenge from June 2013 to June 2014 to write a poem a day to raise awareness of arrhythmias and syncope.
It has since kept going, posting a poem a day covering anything that comes to mind. Additionally, it supports the coaching framework of www.resetparenting.com and also offers workshops in school using poetry to reinvent the wheel of helping children get in touch with different aspects of their development.
Personalised poems are also offered for any occasion or to market your business for a donation to arrhythmia and syncope support group www.beatiteastmidlands.co.uk
This is a free site and asks for nothing in return but if you would like to support the above support group, Beat-It Grantham, then please get in touch.
