Bleeding World

There aren’t enough tears to be cried
Nor near enough droplets of rain
Not enough lakes, oceans and seas
To wash away all of this pain

For the world has a gash to her heart
A chasm of untold deep grief
A bleed that cannot be stopped
Where mere words won’t bring any relief

For as long as disunion exists
Persecution and terror abides
As long as guns blast away peace
The split will open wider; divide

And there won’t be concord til the day
Humanity joins together as one
Where judgement is counselled by truth
And love in each other runs strong

Where the light of freedom shines so bright
And filters deep into the core
Where unity will triumph and bring
Harmony in place of all war

Arabian Knight

The face of greed amidst the mangrove swamp
Beholding the temptress; her charm irrefutable
On saline tide drawing him to her breast
Unrequited; alluring; enticing
Bathing in the riches of Persian pearls
The oils of eastern charm

And yet she is nothing but a transitory illusion
Draining his Bedouin pools of life
With tar bleeding his heart
And gold no longer residing in his soul
As she conceives her triumph, he is lost
Arabian knight without his steed

If I Was An Alien

If I was an alien looking from space
I’d look at the Earth and think what a disgrace
For the blue isn’t clear and the green is all gone
The people are fighting; there’s so much so wrong
I’d think to myself are these people for real?
They’ve brains in their heads and are able to feel
They say they are civilized but is that a joke?
For this planet they’re killing and trying to choke
The breath from its lungs and its heart they don’t see
They don’t stop or listen less let alone be
At peace or contented; at one with them self
And with fags, booze and burgers they’re screwing their health
They rush here and there in a blizzard of faff
They’re peculiar beings and to be honest quite naff
And they don’t speak anymore; they don’t nod, say hello
But sit on the internet; surfing to and fro
And with all that potential I do wonder why
They don’t care for each other leaving some just to die
Or blow others up with big guns and with words
What an odd little planet, how very absurd!
But the thing that I’d wonder; that perplexes me most
Is their obsessions with aliens; pillar for post
For in the state that they’re in, do they really conceive
That I’d venture to that place!  Sadly not I believe!
And for what it is worth; I would leave in a jot
If I happened to land there; found I’d taken a spot
Up on the Earth that’s blessed above all
For these humans appear hell bent on their fall.
If I was an alien looking from space
I’d look at the Earth tears falling down from my face

Let Sun Rise In The Morn

Satan’s mistress has come calling
In robes of dingy white
With tiara on her head of gold
And thorns that exude spite

Beelzebub has met his new bride
The wench he wed mid year
Wreaking havoc; bringing hell on earth
With threats that instil fear

Yet though this prince of darkness
Has married devils spawn
Let light shine through; bring peace and hope
Let sun rise in the morn

A reflection on all the fighting that’s gong on in the world at the moment and a prayer for peace:

What Kind Of World Do We Live In?

What kind of world do we live in
What hatred abounds
Where wars sap earth’s bounty
Where animosity is found

What kind of world do we live in
Where is the peace
The love and the kindness
When did that cease

What kind of world do we live in
With starvation and curse
Where is the compassion
Why does it get worse

What kind of world do we live in
Where murder is rife
Where each beats the other
And the only answer’s a knife

What kind of world do we live in
Without souls and no hearts
Where trusts have been broken
Or are breaking apart

Why kind of world do we live in
Where lies are complex
And dishonour abundant
Another reason to vex

What kind of world do we live in
What planet is this
Where Earth’s beauty is lost
A beauty I miss

What?

What fog hangs over planet Earth?
What mist veils beauty’s face?
What ether lurks with ill intent?
What gangs men race ‘gainst race?
What ill begets such heavy scorn?
What hurts grip each so much?
What lies, what torment, and what pain?
What power craves into touch?
What might then kills the innocent?
What maims to win a score?
What loathing for another one?
What hate sets men at war?

Life Blood

Great blood vessels once flowed throughout
And cut across the living world
In streams of full vivacity
Sustaining life ahead

Such rivers surged with heart and soul
Like arteries cross every land
Yet then as veins of human tears
They wept in waters red

And haematoma blocked the flow
As conflict stifled, killed and raped
What had we done?  What do we do?
Usurped the river’s bed

Their courses altered by great wars
Permeated by broken lives
No longer fluid crystal blue
But channels of the dead

Arterial brooks starved of life
Left bleeding cross the world so wide
But now let’s hear the war cries cease
For peace to flow and spread

At The Gateway Of Tomorrow

Standing at the gateway of tomorrow and contemplating
Contemplating the heinous crimes against humanity
Crimes against humanity bereaving the world of her soul
Her soul lost in the dusk of yesterday
In the dusk of yesterday and the night of the day before
The day before where division has stripped backs raw
Backs raw and the hides torn apart
Torn apart bleeding rivers of tears
Rivers of tears burning from the heart

And yet in the embers of those flames why have we not learnt
Not learnt the lessons of yesterday
Yesterday and vanquished humanity where tomorrow’s sun dims
Tomorrow’s sun dims and cannot rise above the horizon
The horizon where hope lies abandoned by the deeds of people
The deeds of people that still wound the planet and suffocate
Suffocate her breath, deprive her people tomorrow
Tomorrow slain by today and yesterday
Standing at the gateway of tomorrow and contemplating
