Bleeding World

There aren’t enough tears to be cried
Nor near enough droplets of rain
Not enough lakes, oceans and seas
To wash away all of this pain

For the world has a gash to her heart
A chasm of untold deep grief
A bleed that cannot be stopped
Where mere words won’t bring any relief

For as long as disunion exists
Persecution and terror abides
As long as guns blast away peace
The split will open wider; divide

And there won’t be concord til the day
Humanity joins together as one
Where judgement is counselled by truth
And love in each other runs strong

Where the light of freedom shines so bright
And filters deep into the core
Where unity will triumph and bring
Harmony in place of all war

Blue Marbled Sphere

IMG_6858

Blue marbled sphere that spins through space
In watered hue through skies
Of foreign universal realms
Let’s not see its demise
But protect such a precious gem
Midst planets, stars and more
Look after the resources that
Are ours to thus ensure
That such a globe will continue
To revolve life on Earth
And that’s its citizens will have
The rights bequeathed at birth
Of fresh water and clean pure air
With true equality
Available for each to have
Its riches in plenty
And that this orb in galaxies
Will stand the test of time
A blue dot in the cosmos saved
By reason and by rhyme
Preserving our terrestrial sphere
To do, to be, to hold
The life source in all heavens ranks
Forever blessed – this world

The Travel Writer

To cross the world; to see such sights
To taste new culture too
To visit, feel experience
To do, to be, imbue

And then to write; to share, to tell
To be at one in ink
The travel writer story bound
Forever forging links

What Kind Of World Do We Live In?

What kind of world do we live in
What hatred abounds
Where wars sap earth’s bounty
Where animosity is found

What kind of world do we live in
Where is the peace
The love and the kindness
When did that cease

What kind of world do we live in
With starvation and curse
Where is the compassion
Why does it get worse

What kind of world do we live in
Where murder is rife
Where each beats the other
And the only answer’s a knife

What kind of world do we live in
Without souls and no hearts
Where trusts have been broken
Or are breaking apart

Why kind of world do we live in
Where lies are complex
And dishonour abundant
Another reason to vex

What kind of world do we live in
What planet is this
Where Earth’s beauty is lost
A beauty I miss

Sonnet To The Skinner’s Box

Behold the world a skinner’s box so vast
With those who learn to press the buttons so
To get rewards and pleasantries at last
And operate conditionally as they go
Like rats all trained to cleverly respond
To incentives that reward each in turn
For acting in a way that forms the bond
That says do this and you’ll get what you yearn
And yet does this remove autonomy
When in the wrong hands takes away free will
Where harnessing of such mentality
Means doing just to get and have the thrill
Still as a toolkit used responsibly
The world is motivated with this key
